EHI Research Packaging

Efficient packaging as a factor of success for the retail industry

 Packaging needs to fulfil very different requirements until arriving at the shelves of the retail outlet. The function of protection is fundamental for a good product and transport packaging. Beside this, the efficient handling of packaging in logistics and at point of sale is of increasing importance, in order to achieve cost reduction and increase in efficiency. Additionally, packaging exerts crucial influence on the shopper’s buying decision at point of sale.

The EHI packaging research area assists companies from retail as well as from the consumer goods and packaging industry with research projects on packaging required by the retail industry.

EHI services in the research area packaging:

  • Publication of yearly EHI-study on packaging trends from the perspective of retailers, the consumer goods and the packaging industry
  • Research projects on retailers’ requirements and retail structures concerning relevant aspects of packaging
  • Organisation of EHI Working Group Packagin
  • Organisation of Pack 2009, EHI/GS1 Packaging Congres
  • Collaborative organisation of the special show INNOVATIONPARC PACKAGING at interpack 2008

EHI has published this study at interpack 2008 on behalf of Messe Düsseldorf. The interviews with leading German retailers as well as representatives from the German brand manufacturer and packaging industry have revealed current trends and developments as well as expectations and areas of conflict along the value chain packaging.
